Robert B. Hunter
Robert B. Hunter serves as the firm’s Managing Attorney, and has been practicing law since 1982. Focusing on commercial litigation, collections and creditor's rights, Bob has extensive litigation experience involving the collection of overdue balances through motions, discovery, trial and appeals.
Having joined the Firm in 1996 as a litigating attorney, Bob oversees the Firm’s legal collection process. This includes reviewing and recommending accounts for suit, overseeing the flow of accounts through litigation, making appearances in various courts, working closely with clients throughout the litigation process and directing judgment enforcement once judgment is obtained.
Bob is an active advocate on clients’ behalf in the local bankruptcy courts. He is very familiar with bankruptcy court procedures, appears regularly to protect clients’ rights and interests and counsels clients on their rights during the pendency of the bankruptcy.
Bob serves as the Firm’s Chief Compliance Officer in areas including FDCA, FCRA, HIPAA and Red Flag policies. In that capacity, he is responsible for the content of all dunning notices, training of collectors, paralegals and other support staff and remaining abreast of changes in the compliance field.
Prior to joining The Law Offices of M.L. Zager, P.C., Bob held the position of Vice President of a 13.5 billion dollar asset insurance and holding company. His responsibilities included management of a 25 million dollar receivable balance and resolution of insurance and reinsurance claims. Bob's corporate experience brings a heightened sensitivity to the business needs of the firm's hospital and institutional clients. A 1981 graduate of New York Law School and a 1977 graduate of Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Bob is admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York as well as the Federal District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Sullivan County Bar Association and several collection law associations.
